First run on the 650b hoops.

I've fitted my 700c bike up with the 650b wheels for the next build and taken them for a run at Woodhill. Could well be the "all rounder" wheel size, rolls sweetly over the terrain but at a diameter that doesn't encourage a lanky bike. There will be fresh posts as this one plays out.

Taupo, 19-21 Nov.

Another great road trip/riding weekend. This time Taupo with riders of all abilities from first time to, well the rest of us.
It rained, but only when we were riding or asleep. The rest of the time the weather cranked out sun shine.

Next trip looks like Rotorua in the first week of Jan.

It's been nearly a month.........

.........and I've been slack posting on here. I'm still waiting on a shipment of tubing to get some frames rolling, I've got a very special set of stays coming which needed indenting.
However I have received some very nice sliding drop outs and I've been working on a design for my number 1 riding buddy, Jamie.

By all accounts my shipment will be leaving tonight which means I should see it early next week. Sweet..

Saturday afternoon ride

A great ride so close to home.
Klondyke road starts about 15km from my home and takes you through large dry stock farms, a commercial pine forest and up to 381m elevation ending at the coast.
The first half is all up, which leaves about 10 minutes of pure gravel decent all the way down to sea level.
The only traffic we saw where 2 cars and about 3 pigs, perfect.

About 2/3 the way up and starting to level out.

Half way down, good time for a picture. The Waikato river in the back ground.
The last section is quite steep and a bit of a handful on slicks.

After a bbq we were just in time to catch the sunset, perfect end to a great afternoon ride.

SSWC2010

The week after the SSWC in Rotorua and the memory of all that happened seems a blur.
I have three frames in line to be built over the coming few months, a fixed/single road bike for the Redbull mini drome, a singlespeed mountain bike for Jamie and a 650b.
There's a five week lead time on the rims for the 650b and the tires will need to be bought in via the US.
If all goes smoothly the fixed gear will be under way in the next couple of days, untill then it's time to ride the 28" while the weathers sweet.
